昆虫的盔甲与皮靴

　　许多昆虫都有一副坚硬而漂亮的外壳，好像穿上了一副“盔甲”。有了这层壳，昆虫就不怕水淹，还能抵御敌害。

　　昆虫的这副“盔甲”里含有大量的蜡质。蜡实际上也是一种酯类，由许多高级脂肪酸和一元醇（chún）组成，常温下往往是固态，因而滴水不沾，成为许多昆虫的一种保护层。蜜蜂就是用蜂蜡建造蜂房，在里面产卵，孵（fū）出许多后代，保证了小蜜蜂在各自的蜂房里安全成长。苍蝇则巧妙地在自己毛腿的尖处分泌出一些中性酯类物质，从而为自己的两只脚都套上“防滑靴”。不知你注意到没有，苍蝇在垂直的玻璃窗上能行动自如，停住时，就如钉子钉在上面，爬行时，又迅速异常，真像一个天才的杂技演员。

　　有些昆虫体内的酯对人类很有益处。如蜜蜂的蜂蜡，四川的白蜡和虫胶等，都有很大的应用价值。
