西湖彩电要更名了。此举，在浙江省杭州西湖电子集团职工中引出了两种截然不同的意见。赞成者认为，西湖彩电推出的全数字彩电，在国内处于领先地位，而原来的西湖彩电给人的印象是中档产品，既然产品已全面创新，品牌也应脱离原来的束缚，通过全新的科技、全新的产品、全新的质量、全新的品牌，带给消费者一个全新的感受，树立起企业新的形象。反对者认为，西湖彩电是浙江省名牌，已有一定的知名度，产品的关键是产品的内在质量，如果质量不过关，名字改成宇宙牌也没用。其实，争论不仅仅在西湖电子集团内部。把已有25年历史、为人们所熟知的商标改了，这一行为也引起了许多市民的关注。据西湖电子集团委托杭州市城调队就这一问题向200户居民进行的调查结果显示，36.8%的人认为“西湖”有必要改名，10%的人认为无需改名，52%的人觉得无所谓。同时又有51.4%的人认为改名利大于弊，9.4%的人认为改名弊大于利。对“西湖牌”电视机商标更名一事，西湖电子集团解释：一是集团下属的杭州西湖电子实业有限公司、西湖电器总公司和西湖电子集团注塑模具有限公司，三块优质资产将组成西湖电子股份有限公司。作为中国数字电子革命的先行者，新成立的股份公司，将不仅仅停留在家电行业，而将是一家与信息产业相融合的高科技企业，将走向全国、跨出国门。二是认为“西湖”的地域性色彩过浓，地域性商标的局限性制约了企业形象和产品的拓展。同时，以“西湖”为名的产品有许多种，使得品牌的识别能力不强，而“西湖”一词无法体现西湖电子集团产品的高科技色彩。因此，公司下决心更名。据悉，西湖彩电新的名称已经确定。改名后的名称将从三个方面来体现：一是体现西湖彩电与信息产业融合的高科技特色；二是体现中国数字电子革命首创者的特色；三是能与今后发展成跨国、跨地区公司的目标相吻合。
