The Chinese New Year is the most important festival for the Chinese people and it falls on the first day of the first month in the Chinese lunar calendar. On New Year’s Eve they have a family feast, eating dumplings, fish and meat. After that they stay up to midnight to welcome the New Year with fireworks. On New Year’s Day, people visit their relatives and friends to exchange New Year’s greetings. Children receive “lucky money” wrapped in red paper. Lion dances，dragon dances and other performances are also part of the celebration, which usually last for three days.
