有人认为,摄取充足的维生素和改善机体免疫力以防止辐射对机体的损害是可以达到长寿的目的的。这种看法并没有错,但专业人员认为过于乐观。

当我们的细胞把氧气和食物转化成化学能量时,我们身体每时每刻都在产生自由基。自由基能损害DNA和细胞膜,这种伤害可导致衰老。当然,很多生物都有天然的抗氧化剂和酶,它们可以阻止自由基的产生。补充抗氧化剂维生素或模拟抗氧化酶的药物可能会延缓衰老。其实,这只是一种理论,而在这种理论的鼓噪下,乐开了怀的是一些厂家和商人。君不见眼下消费者的钞票正在大把大把地流入生产维生素和抗衰老补充剂厂商的腰包。
