文艺作品的鉴赏（节选）

文艺鉴赏并不是摊开了两只手，专等文艺给我们一些什么。也不是凭一时的现象，给文艺加上一些形容词语。

文艺中间讲到一些事物，我们就得问：作者为什么要讲到这些事物？文艺中间描写风景，表达感情，我们就得问：作者这样描写和表达是不是最为有效。我们不但说了个“好”就算，还要说得出好在哪里。不但说了个“不好”就算，还说得出不好在哪里。这样，才够得上称为文艺鉴赏。这样，从好的文艺得到的感动更深切，文艺方面如果有什么不完美的地方，也会察觉出来，不至于一味照单全收。

鲁迅的《孔乙己》，现在小学高年级和初级中学都选作国语教材，读过的人很多了。读过的人说：“这样一个偷东西被打折了腿的瘪三，写他有什么意思呢？”但是，有耐心去鉴赏的人不这么看，有的说：“孔乙己说回字有四种写法，如果说作者让孔乙己把四种写法都写出来，那就索然无味了。”有的说：“这一篇写的孔乙己虽然颓唐下流，却处处要面子，处处显出他所受的教育给与他的影响，绝不同于一般的瘪三，这是这一篇的出色处。”有一个深深体会了世味的人说：“这篇中，我以为最妙的文字是‘孔乙己是这样的使人快活，可是没有他别人也便这么过。’这个句子传达出无可奈何的寂寞之感。这种寂寞之感不只属于这一篇中的小酒店小伙计，也普遍属于一般人，‘也便这么过’，谁能跳出这寂寞的网罗呢？”

可见文艺鉴赏犹如采矿，你不动手，自然一无所得，只要你动手去采，随时会发现一些晶莹的宝石。

这些晶莹的宝石岂但给你一点赏美的兴趣，并将扩大你的眼光，充实你的经验，使你的思想、情感、意志往更深更高的方面发展。

好的文艺值得一回又一回地阅读，其原因在此，否则明明已经知道那文艺中间讲的是什么事物了，为什么还要反复阅读？

另外有一类也称为文艺的东西，粗略地阅读似乎也颇有趣味。但只要细细地一想，就不再认为这一类东西有什么趣味了。

可见阅读任何东西不可马虎，必须认真。认真阅读的结果，不但随时会发现晶莹的宝石，也随时会发现粗劣的瓦砾。于是吸取那值得取的，排除那些无足取的，自己才会慢慢地成长起来。

采取走马看花态度的，谈不到文艺鉴赏，纯处于被动地位的，也谈不到文艺鉴赏。要认真阅读，在阅读中要研究、考察。这样才可以走上文艺鉴赏途径。

When something goes wrong, it can be very satisfying to say," Well, it’s so-and-so’s fault. "or "I know I’m late, but it’s not my fault ; the car broke down. "It is probably not your fault, but once you form the habit of blaming somebody or something else for a bad situation, you are a loser. You have no power and could do nothing that helps change the situation. However, you can have great power over what happens to you if you stop focusing on whom to blame and start focusing on how to remedy the situation. This is the winner’s key to success.

Winners are great at overcoming problems. For example, if you were late because your car broke down, maybe you need to have your car examined more regularly. Or, you might start to carry along with you the useful phone numbers, so you could call for help when in need. For another ex-ample, if your colleague causes you problems on the job for lack of responsibility or ability, find ways of dealing with his irresponsibility or inability rather than simply blame the person. This is what being a winner is all about—creatively using your skills and talents so that you are successful no matter what happens. They are just better at seeing those problems as challenges and opportunities to develop their own talents. So, stop focusing on "whose fault it is". Once you are confident about your power over bad situations, problems are just stepping stones for success.
