①今年第11号强台风“海葵”的中心于8日3时20分前后在浙江省象山县鹤浦镇沿海登陆,8日白天穿过浙江省,8日夜间进入安徽省,将给长江三角地区带来持续强风雨。诸如此类的台风是怎样的一种自然现象呢?

②台风是形成于热带洋面上的强大而深厚的气旋性涡旋。它发生在南纬和北纬5~20℃左右海水温度比较高的洋面上。北半球台风主要发生在海洋温度比较高的7—10月,南半球的台风发生在高温的1—3月,其他季节明显减少。当台风吹越海面时,风速可达17.2米/秒,掀起的巨浪有10多米高,最高的可达30多米。一个成熟的台风在一天中下的雨量可达200亿吨,由水汽凝结成雨所放出的热能相当巨大。台风的威力之大由此可见一斑。

③台风登陆之际,往往造成恶劣天气,风雨交加,酿成风灾水患。台风是我国东南沿海地区的一大灾害。近几年来,台风登陆频率增高,并有北移的趋势,偶尔还深入内陆,台风的影响面在扩大。2005年8月台风“麦莎”使全省受灾人口高达840.3万,9月受13号台风“泰利”影响,安徽大别山地区普降暴雨到特大暴雨,强降雨造成山体滑坡、山洪暴发,造成几十人死亡,2006年第1号台风“珍珠”已造成福建、广东、浙江3省1061万多人不同程度受灾,紧急转移安置105万多人,因灾直接损失75.5亿元。每当因台风致灾时,人们常常想:假如世界上没有台风该有多好。

④那么,假如没有台风又会怎样呢?

⑤首先,如果没有台风的话,我国东南沿海盛夏季节气温将会骤增。持续的高温会造成作物热死,人畜中暑,造成高温引起“热害”。工厂将被迫停工,各项生产效率大大降低。身居东南沿海的人们在骄阳似火、炎热难熬的盛夏,常会盼望多来几级台风,因为台风给人们带来大量的雨水与狂风,使气温骤然降低,给酷暑之中的人们以透气的机会,可见台风在盛夏消除“热害”中,有着不可缺少的作用。

⑥台风带来倾盆大雨,为缺乏淡水的沿海岛屿和城乡普降甘霖。一次台风带来的一场透雨,能缓解旱情,大量雨水储入水库,渗入地下,改善了夏季干旱的气候。近年来,我国淡水资源十分紧缺,沿海城市和海岛更是年年都要闹水荒。1988年,我国最大的渔场之一——浙江嵊泗列岛大旱,岛上水库干涸,来自沿海诸省市的10万渔民和岛上居民深受缺水的煎熬,十万火急地向上海求救。当时上海市曾紧急调用多艘油轮向嵊泗送水,旱情才得以缓解。可是用船送水,要付出很大的费用,真是滴水贵如油啊!如果没有台风,那么在盛夏干热时节,我国沿海城乡和岛屿的水荒将更会加剧,将严重影响人民正常的生产和生活。

⑦如果没有台风,我们沿海地区的湿润度就要大大下降。弄不好,江南沃野也将丧失,会出现沙丘成垄的干旱地区,江南的“鱼米之乡”也就不会存在了。

⑧我们人类居住的地球是大自然长期演化的产物,似乎一切都作了精密的安排,什么也缺少不了。那么,这是不是说我们应该拜倒在台风的脚下?那也不是,人类不能“消灭”台风,却要认识台风,掌握台风的规律,以便趋利避害,进而利用台风。比如说,每次台风来时,都带来了巨大的能量,一旦人们能驾驭台风,借其能量为人们所用,人类也增加了一种巨大的能源。
